Originating from the Oushak region of western Turkey, this tradition of hand-knotted weaving has been practiced for centuries and remains one of the most recognizable in decorative textiles, built around large-scale floral vocabulary, warm palettes and a sense of openness that gives even densely patterned designs room to breathe. The golden beige field carries an all-over arrangement of scrolling vines, palmettes and rosette heads that move across the surface, while a coral and rust border frames the composition with a continuous floral meander touched with soft blue-gray, those same tones reappearing as subtle outlines within the field to tie the whole design together. Hand-knotted wool surface on a cotton foundation adds to the rug the density, drape and structural integrity that traditional Oushak construction is known for, and at this scale the craftsmanship involved is considerable, each knot placed individually to build up the motifs across the full surface. As an Oushak area rug, it balances traditional rug character with transitional style for a living room rug, dining room rug, bedroom rug, or elegant interior accent.
