Inspired by classical Chobi weaving traditions, this superfine versatile transitional rug displays a soft allover repeat of subtle floral rosettes and geometric trelliswork. Skilled artisans hand-knot fine wool over a strong cotton warp, building a low, dense pile engineered for natural durability and stain resistance. Soothing aqua blue tones, earthy brown accents, and gentle beige botanicals wash across a pale ivory ground, offering a quiet, organic elegance that effortlessly elevates contemporary and classic interiors alike. As a handmade wool Chobi area rug, this handmade rug adds soft texture, durable construction, timeless design, and an elegant interior accent for dens, making the piece easy to style in traditional, transitional, or modern home décor. Color note: This rug was photographed under studio lighting, so colors may look slightly brighter on screen than in person. Please watch the video below for a closer view of the palette before ordering.
Story Behind the Art: Chobi rugs carry a rich lineage shaped by Persian, Turkman, and Afghan cultural influences. Woven in the Peshawar region of Pakistan, these handmade rugs often reflect the rugged landscape and warm natural tones associated with the area. The word “Chobi” refers to wood colors, which explains why many Chobi rugs feature brown, tan, camel, and other wood-inspired hues. This rug is made with vegetable dyes and fine hand-spun wool that is rich in lanolin, giving the pile a soft, lustrous character. The use of vegetable dyes also creates the distinctive abrash effect found in Chobi Peshawar rugs, with gently shifting color tones across the surface that give each piece depth, individuality, and natural charm.
