Antique and in good structural condition with some low pile, this hand-knotted Tabriz wool carpet has been professionally cleaned and restored and is completely ready to use, the even wear across the field consistent with a piece of genuine age and provenance. Woven in Tabriz, the carpet centers a large turquoise and navy medallion on a deep coral red field with scattered floral rosettes in ivory and green arranged symmetrically around it, and a row of arched mihrab tile panels in navy, turquoise, peach, and gold running across the lower field adds an architectural quality that is a distinctive hallmark of formal Tabriz production. The wide navy border carries a full repeat of large floral medallions in pink, ivory, turquoise, and gold that frames the composition on all sides, and the vegetable dyes across the full piece have aged with remarkable evenness given the age of the carpet.
