The field itself is covered in a dense diagonal repeat of small leaf forms in red and dark brown that runs across the entire ground, giving the rug texture and visual depth behind the medallions. The border carries a row of geometric pinwheel rosettes in red, navy, and gold, which fits the tribal character of Hamadan work without overcomplicating the edges.
